But monsoon is such a season, when spices are not kept properly, then moisture comes in them. Monsoon brings in moisture and it is possible that the spices get spoiled. Let's know some tips on how to store spices well in monsoons.

Dry airtight container

All the spices in your kitchen should be kept in an air-tight jar or container so that the spices do not get excess moisture. Make sure your spices are dry before you put them in the jar.

Glass bottles

Never use plastic containers to store salt and sugar. Salt and sugar tend to hold moisture early in the monsoon season. You should keep these in a glass bottle or stainless steel container. Also, they should be kept away from moisture and hot places.

Keep in the sun

Whenever the sun is out, keep your spices in the sun. This prevents fungal growth on the spices.

Save Your Spices With Cloves

In this season, usually, the white-colored fungus is found on powdered spices. To protect your spices from this fungus, put 2-4 cloves in it.

Roast Spices

Roast the black pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon on a griddle for a few seconds before storing them. After it cools down, put it in a container. Also, put dried bay leaves in each container.

Keep in the freezer  

Most people have a habit of wrapping loose spices in plastic and keeping them in the refrigerator. This way the natural aroma and flavor of the spices are gone. It is better that you store spices in a vacuum-tight pack and keep them in the freezer.
